Simple Conversion Formula

Traffic without a purpose is just a waste of time and money.

I remembered when I first started out, I heard the guru said that “the more traffic you send to your website, the more money you can make”. This is so true, but this is not the truth of the whole game.

If sending more traffic to the website make you more money, then anyone can become rich by purchasing more traffic to the website.

What truly important is the backend process.

There are only three elements in marketing – traffic and conversion.

I’ll break marketing into three part process

#1 Traffic

What I mean traffic here is not the type of traffic that you got stuck in the way to your office today. I’m talking about website traffic.

When we hear this phrase “traffic”, it sounds rather impersonal and anonymous.

In fact, however, traffic is just people with real problems, struggle, frustration, desire, ambition and real goals.

Like any human being, each of that traffic has a number of different problems and desires. They are looking for the solution to their problems. The job of you as a business owner is to look up for them and present your solution to them.

So, it is really important to figure out your niche and customer avatar. This makes you a better problem solver because you understand your customer, you know

  • their interests
  • their problems
  • their way of communication
  • know what they buying
  • where they hang out
  • what their question
  • their demographics

You name it. The better you understand your customer, the better you can present your solution. When you know where they look for information and hangout, you can just put your message in front of them.

Traffic is not a big problem in marketing but most of the people make traffic as the number one priority in their online business.

Yet, traffic is the lifeblood of your business. Without anyone noticing your presence, there is not money you can make.

#2 Capture

What I mean capture here is capture the contact information of the traffic.

I remember when I first started out online, I was sending traffic directly to my website and expect someone to buy my product. Guess what, my expectation was wrong. Nobody even cares about my product.

People are not a robot. They don’t go to your product page and make a purchase immediately. There are people who

  • buy today,
  • buy later
  • buy way later.

People buy with the right emotion. They make a purchase when they trust you as the person who can provide the solutions to their problems.

It is impossible to establish enough trust with a product page. So we need to have to capture their contact information such as name and email address so that can we keep on communicating and provide value through email.

Realized that, people won’t give you permission to put things into their inbox without any reason or benefits. Similar to fishing, the fish won’t get hooked unless you place a right bait on your hook. So, we can offer something in exchange for their email addresses. The SOMETHING is what we call the lead magnet.

Lead magnet

A lead magnet is an incentive that marketers offer to potential buyers in exchange for their email address or other contact information.

Once you know your customer avatar and have your lead magnet done, you’re going to send traffic to a capture page.

Capture page

Capture page is nothing much but a promise to deliver the lead magnet and a form to collect contact information.

You can build your capture page easily using funnel building software – Clickfunnels.

#3 Convert

This is the most important element in marketing. The number of the sales depends on your ability to convert traffic to a customer.

People love to buy but hate to be sold.

Think about it. When you send traffic directly to a product page and they don’t make a purchase, your relationship with the traffic end there. This is what happens in their mind:

“This person is trying to sell me something, I’m going to stay away from this person”

Actually, people love to buy, you just not yet build the trust and do enough jobs to get them to buy your solutions.

So, what to do next?

Remember we had collected the email addresses? Use it. They gave you the chance to build a relationship with them. Don’t waste it.

Once you hand over the lead magnet, you can keep emailing them about:

  • your backstories
  • your transformation stories (facts tell, story sells)
  • you day
  • your knowledge
  • how-to tutorials
  • reviews
  • inspirations
  • ideas
  • challenges

You don’t need to write the emails and send it one by one. Instead, you can use an autoresponder to automate the process. Once you load your prewritten emails to the autoresponder, the autoresponder will do the job to send the emails on your behalf as you scheduled.

The autoresponder I recommend is GetResponse.

Most of the people focus on getting a sale, but I want you to shift focus on serving and building a relationship with your audience. Once you build the relationship and trust between you and your audiences, the selling process becomes easy.

Here’s my advice to you:

Keep on deliver goodwill to help them and let them do the buying decision.
